GOING A LITTLE POTTY......

Its all good folk and folkettes, I have just tried my hand at a little craft project that I have been meaning to do for a while now.

Remember my love of Gaudi and mosaics,

as this illustrates

Wellllllllllll......

I have this really dull spot in the garden. Because unlike our English  cousins we have long hot summers, sandy soil and have just endured a ten year drought. I tend not to grow flowers that need water or pampering. Mine is the set and forget type garden, if it grows it grows, if not then it was not meant to be.

So my garden lacks colour generally, especially in Winter.

Cue the cheap colored tiles from the local hardware store.

And I got cracking, literally. I cracked up those tiles and away I went.
It was such fun, I mean its not unlike quilting, we take perfectly good fabric and cut it into smaller pieces and stick it back together again. Its the same here!

Like a jigsaw puzzle really.

Ta dahhhhh

I am pleased with it, the kids and hubby think I should paint the un-tiled surfaces.......I don't know......maybe I should tile the bottom half? But I don't want to over do it.....but then again ......did Gaudi stop? No he definitely did NOT.

Here is the next pot ready to go......watch this space, I may soon be known as that lady who lives in that mosaic house with all her quilts and chihuahuas.........how divine!

I do leave the house as this photo proves, when we got up early and went to a local market. This was before all the crowds arrived, get there early is our motto, eat well, and be home in time for tea

Which is what we did.

I had to take this shot, as we arrived at the market the sun was low in the sky and shone right through these honey jars......it was just serendipity that I saw the light , whipped out the camera and snapped this.......

I am loving the new lens...which I may have mentioned before......I am still learning much but loving the process.

No garden flowers but I can pamper them inside in a pot.

Or take many artistic shots of picked flowers.

I will sign off now unless this becomes a very picture heavy ramble, does anyone remember slide nights after family or friends have been on that overseas cruise...and as children we were made to sit quietly and suffer shot after shot after shot of landscapes......you get my pain. Hahahaha...I am in danger of being those people!

I Have been busy........

Yes folks I have been very industrious in the interim, where to start?

Firstly my darling husband gave me a wonderful new lens for my camera for Mothers Day!
Seriously we have been married for 28 years now, we have children aged 24 and 20...we have stuck together through so much that I thought ...you know ....surprises were far and few between.....

I was apparently a picture of surprise shock and delight when I opened the Mothers Day gift fully expecting the usual pajamas.. (which I do request and are more than happy with)......and it was a wonderful new lens......my pictures are so much better now...dont you think?

My paperweights

My fur babies...dont judge me..:-)

Awwwwwwwwww

The man of the moment

And me........now as you can deduce, I didnt take this shot, as I would not have placed the lion on my shoulder.

I am getting braver about facing the camera now, its all about self love. Seriously not many of us can look like magazine girls and I am larger than any you will see gracing the pages...but I am OK with this now. Fifty and free to be me.

Which is perfectly encapsulated in this wonderful little design by Jennifer Pudney.  Bathing beauties......
Ms Pudney writes that she remembers local swimsuit competitions from her childhood, where she thought the largest one was always the winner.
Check out her designs here.

These kits are so lovely I have a wall of them completed now. The kits come with everything you need, and they are EASY to complete, like painting with cotton. You use all six strands so no separating threads, and no counting, just colour in the design on the canvas, no accuracy needed.

And I leave you with the above pictured sentiment.

When I saw this I just had to have it, it was designed by this talented lady.
Follow this link.

So now you can look forward to better photos on my blog, or I may run off and start a new photography blog!!!.....nah...one blog is enough.

WENT TO A FESTIVAL.........

A tea cosy festival.......at a little town called Fish Creek.

Pictures to follow.

Yep, I heard about this event on the radio and mentioned it to a friend, who said.."Lets Go"

So we did just that. It was a good two hour drive and it must be said we were a little apprehensive......would it be worth the trip?

Would we arrive to see one or two desultory tea cosy offerings and not much else?
Well what was there to lose? Half a day of driving, not much else, and where was our spirit of adventure?...( in the boot along with the spare tyre, haha)

The centre of every good country town, the pub!
.....oh and yes the occasional fish sculpture.

Thats art, that is! Street performers added colour and movement to the day.
Funny, but I wore red and black that day, I was right in the scene.

No, not the festival...not yet. This was part of the market being held that day. There were some lovely stalls, and I may have purchased something. But that comes later.
This lovely lady knits profusely and well, her cosies were all for sale, so my friend who has a strange love of the cosy did take one home.

Not this one, I just thought he was cute and took his photo, (with permission)

They were all worthy of being taken home, decisions, decisions.
Anyway I took her card and if you wanted a tea cosy, email me and I will pass on her details.

Ta dah...this is what I took home.

I loved the colours and the collection so thoughtfully put together, I tried to resist but couldnt.
Now I just need some sunny weather and I gonna take me on a picnic.

Ohhhhh, whats that I spy in the window?

Yes, we have made it to the festival proper. And it was very cute and worth the trip....along with the shopping, the great lunch and good company.

And my personal favourite

I snuck in this photo as the official photographer was setting up shots for the local paper.

Very sweet....

 No competition without controversy...

Off with his head...pronounced the queen.

Then we left the festival and headed home into the sunset. I may even return and do it again next year!
